I started seeing a great guy a month ago and after a couple weeks of dating we carelessly had sex (drinking, I know dumb) and so I told him of my condition the next day when I saw him. He said he did not know about the disease but wanted to stay with me anyway because things were so amazing between us (I can honestly say this is the first man in about three years I have mentally, emotionally and physically connected with, we have SO many things in common and had mutual attraction).

Well the next day he went to his doctor, then dumped me. He said he had to be selfish and apologized because his doctor told him that although he might not get it immediately, the risk increases over time. It has been about a week since.

I am dying. I know we only dated for a couple weeks and I sound stupid, but this guy was IT for me! I know he felt the same about me too because he was so great with the courting and conversation and things just progressed quickly. I have started to feel better but deep inside I pray he calls me again or says he wants to try.

Am I just fooling myself? I put this is singles and dating and STDs because I would like some closure. Please, don’t make fun of me. This was the first time a man rejected me because of the disease (not like I am a ho, I had only been with two other guys in the past three years and I AM a monogamous partner!)

Anyways, I work as a waitress at an independently-owned bar & grill. Times being what they are, we’ve had to really struggle lately to keep the place going. We had a staff meeting earlier this summer where we all threw out ideas that we thought might help improve sales, and one thing that I (somewhat facetiously) mentioned ended up being implemented as part of a revised dress code.

Previously, we were allowed to wear pretty much anything we wanted to while waiting on tables, so long as it didn’t violate the health code rules. Since that meeting, our boss has insisted on a more uniform dress code in which all the wait staff are required to wear tight white t-shirts with the bar logo on them, but with the specific provision that we are prohibited from wearing a bra, or anything else (e.g. camis, breast tape), under them.

Now, I don’t have a problem with this – I’ve got a good figure and don’t mind showing it off – but a couple of girls have quit over it. On the up side, we have seen a 20% increase in our traffic and a 15% increase in our check tabs.

One of the girls who quit swore up and down that this dress code policy was illegal (though she didn’t clarify exactly why she thought so) and most of the folks who responded to my previous question said it constituted sexual harassment. I don’t understand this line of reasoning. Nobody is being solicited for sexual favors here, overtly or implied. Yes, obviously this dress code is all about making the wait staff appear sexier to the patrons, but why is that not something an employer can specify as part of the job? Is it de facto sexual harassment when you hire someone to be a stripper, or a model in an art class?

I’ve worked other jobs where employers specifically indicated "female employees must wear a bra." If an employer has the right to make demands in the dress code that a person must wear specific undergarments, what makes it illegal to for them to specify that an employee may NOT wear them?
Decency? What in the world are you talking about, Wheel Man? Being braless does not qualify under anybody’s legal definition of indecency. I can most assuredly jiggle all the way down Main Street without breaking a single law.

For a few months, probably since I went off the bc pills in April, I have been feeling my lower abdominal region moving, and mostly while I am at rest. I feel it when I lie down sometimes, when I am relaxing in the bath tub, and sometimes when I’m working (I work online as a freelance journalist). When I’m working it is strong enough of a movement to push the keyboard tray on my computer in a few inches. I have held my breath and watched my stomach to see if it’s because of my breathing but it continues to move. I am thinking a possible unknown pregnancy because it’s in the same spot that my daughter favored when I was pregnant with her 3 1/2 years ago. I am a full-figured woman and normally can easily maintain my weight with diet and exercise, and did for 3 years until around September last year when I had an unexplained weight gain of about 8 pounds. I lost it again with diligent diet and exercise, but am now about 15 pounds heavier than the weight I naturally maintain. I haven’t changed my diet/exercise or anything, in fact I eat healthier now more than ever because I’ve been trying to lose that 15 pounds and more. I had irregular periods on the bc even after the first couple months, and have had one period about a week after I stopped taking bc and only very light spotting since. I have also noticed recently that even though my waist wasn’t small before, it has nearly disappeared.

I know the only true way to be sure is to go to a doctor, but I went to my gp for my women’s wellness in November last year, and they did bloodwork before. I did notice that the pregnancy hormone was in the right range (on the low end of the range), but the doctor prescribed the bc and didn’t indicate that he believed I was pregnant, and having taken an EPT before going in that was negative I didn’t believe pregnancy testing was necessary.
I have taken several pregnancy tests since November and they have all been negative, the most recent was about 3 weeks ago. I know if I’m far enough along to feel movement then one of them should have been positive by now, unless I’m either not taking them right (after reading the directions any dodo could take them right) or I just am not taking them at the right time (like after drinking too much and the hormones are too diluted to indicate a positive).

It has been really difficult dealing with this and when I went to the doctor to discuss it, their only suggestion was to try family planning and my husband (and I) aren’t willing to take that much of a chance with getting pregnant. What should I do????

I’ve been on Depo-Provera (the shot you get every 3 months), Orth-Evra (the patch), and now I’m using Nuva Ring. All of which I have experienced this with. I have not tried the pill because I am 99 % positive that I will NOT remember to take it everyday!
